Coming back to school information

Here is a document that you might find helpful to explain to your child about what returning to school at the moment might look like.

Tuesday, 2nd June

Hello children,

We hope that you had a lovely half term and are ready to start your school work again. We are looking forward to seeing some of you in school on Thursday. For those of you still working at home we will be adding new work to the website once a week now. Every Tuesday we will introduce a new story and suggest some activities for you to enjoy with your parents and carers. Our new topic is 'Toys'. This week we will be thinking about our own toys but next week we will be asking parents and carers to tell you about the toys that they used to play with and possibly to show you their old toys.

English

This week our story is 'How To Be a Viking' by Cressida Cowell.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93-KYp7OvWQ

Activities

  1. Hiccup is frightened of spiders and thunder and loud noises and the sea. Talk, draw and write about a time when you were frightened and how you overcame your fear. Did someone special help you?
  2. Make a boat and sail it in your bath, pool or sink. Can it carry one of your toy figures? Take a photograph of your boat or draw a picture and label it.
  3. Take your boat on a journey across your pool, bath or sink. Tell the story of what happens to your toy on the journey. You could write the story in your book or your grown up could write it for you. Maybe there could be some big waves or maybe your toy could meet the Sid the Soap, Dan the dishcloth or Pete the Pot.

Things to do at home

Hello all,

Each day this page will be updated with new work for you to do. Some of it needs the work pack that your grown up can collect from school.

Every day there are Read Write Inc lessons online so you can keep up with your sounds.

Children in Green, Purple and Pink groups are learning Set 2 Sounds. Children in Orange, Yellow, Blue and Grey groups are learning Set 3 sounds.
