This half term we welcomed the children to the classroom, our topic focus this half term is 'Marvellous me', in which we used the half term to get to know all the children and start their journey at school. In R.E we introduced Tom and Tessa and looked at 'Why is the word God so important to Christians?'
This is what we will look at this half term in maths, literacy and creative. This is alongside outside and independent play throughout the day.
Week 1: A variety of activities across maths and literacy to see what the children already know. We will also be creating a picture for our peg names.
Week 2: A variety of activities across maths and literacy to see what the children already know. In creative we will paint our self portraits.
Week 3: Three little pigs- this week we are looking at the three little pigs story and linking this to our families. The children will be playing a big bad wolf game in maths, story telling in Literacy and house printing in creative.
Week 4: Autumn items - this week we are talking about the season Autumn, as well as identifying Autumn items and using this in our learning. We will be sorting Autumn items into categories in maths, talking about what we can see in the curiosity cube in Literacy and creating binoculars in creative, ready for our talk for writing story.
Week 5: Harvest - This week we are looking at harvest, we will be discussing this in class and then linking this to our learning. In maths we will be playing a Brown Bear Brown Bear sorting game, in Literacy we will be creating a harvest profile and in creative we will be using fruit and vegetables to do some print sequencing.
Week 6: Goldilocks - This week we are looking at the story of Goldilocks and the three bears, again linking to families and to our learning in the classroom. In maths we are using the story character print outs to work on our sequencing skills. In Literacy we will be telling stories using props and in creative we are making our own porridge and tasting it!
Week 7: Winnie the Witches birthday - This week we are celebrating the end of the first half term with the help of Winnie the Witch. The children will create shape castles in maths, making name placements in literacy and printing a party hat in creative. The children will finish the week with a party!
