We have been working hard on our Phonics at school following the Read Write Inc (RWI) programme. 

 

 

Reading

 

We are all working at different levels, look at the the books or sheets your child has brought home to see which colour they are working at.

 

 

  RWI Phonics Speed Sounds Lessons

Practise your RWI speed sounds everyday. Children on Dittys and Red books are learning Set 1 sounds. Children on Green, Purple and Pink books are learning Set 2 Sounds.

  How To Say The Sounds

Its really important to pronounce the sounds correctly as this helps with blending the sounds together for reading. Some sounds may be unfamiliar so please have a listen.

Writing 1 Writing words or simple sentences
Writing 2 Ask your child to tell you about Fred Frog.
Writing 3 Can they explain to you how to use Fred Fingers?
Writing 4 Can they remember to start with a capital letter?
Writing 5 Can they use finger spaces?
Writing 6 and add a full stop to end their sentence?

Sharing Stories 

 

Reading books with your child is a fun way of sharing time together and is a great way to develop vocabulary. When reading together talk about the story and the characters, talk about the meaning of new words and think about your favourite part of the story.
