English - I can write for different purposes, including real events.

You could:

  • Write the story of Grace Darling.

  • Write a diary entry as Grace describing that eventful night.

  • Sequence the events of that night using time words.

  • Draw Grace and surround her with adjectives to describe her.

  • Write your own rescue story.

  • Was Grace a hero? Was she only famous because she was a girl? Write to us with your opinion.

Twinkl and the RNLI both have useful resources.

Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar -  I can identify nouns and adjectives.

  • Can you remember what nouns and adjectives are? ‘A noun is the name of a thing, a place or a person.’ ‘An adjective describes a noun.’

  • Remind yourself with these bitesize links: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zrqqtfr/articles/zpd8ng8  ‘What are nouns?’   https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zrqqtfr/articles/zy2r6yc ‘ ‘what are adjectives?’

  • Choose a page from a book you enjoy reading. Can you identify the nouns in three sentences from the book?  Are there any adjectives telling you more about these nouns? If not, make up your own adjectives.

  • Play an ‘adjectives’ game with someone in your family. Choose an object - a toy, the cat, your favourite shoes - and take turns to think of adjectives that describe the thing you are talking about. Can you think of adjectives to describe people in your family? (Remember to be polite!)

  • You can try this game:

  • Write a few sentences describing what you see from your window, using adjectives; email it to us as we would love to read it.

Maths - I can tell the time including o’clock, quarter past and half past.

  • Talk to your family about telling the time. Tell them what you already know. Here are some videos to help you:

We suggest that you watch it all the way through, then watch again to answer these questions.

  • Typing quickly and accurately is a useful skill. As last week, there are some fun games and typing lessons on this website that you might like to try. You will need to use a laptop or computer for these though. If you tried one game then try a different one.
