Wassily Kandinsky was possibly the first abstract artist. He likes to mix his own colours and listened to music to inspire his paintings. We were only given primary colours and had to mix our own secondary colours. We painted our own versions of kandinsky's circles.

Linking our recent geography topic about cities, including a study of Manchester, we have been looking at paintings by L.S. Lowry, who painted Salford. He painted urban landscapes and used drab colours. We've followed a Youtube video to create our own L.S. Lowry inspired paintings.

We looked at the work of Mondrian and linked it to our mathematics. Mathematical vocabulary such as vertical, horizontal, straight and right angle were important in his artwork
