Grade 3 Point 7 - £25,583 pro rata
30 hours per week and 52 weeks per year

Your role
Building & Grounds Maintenance:
- Ensure that all plant and equipment are available and working effectively including weekly/monthly checks on school minibus vehicles.
- Carry out light maintenance and remedial works appropriate to qualifications, experience and MAT risk assessments.
- Ensure that school grounds and buildings are clean, free of hazards and maintained correctly, including clearing leaves and keeping footpaths clear.
- Ensure that any unreported required repairs or maintenance is reported to the School Business Manager for review.
- Ensure that all refuse is disposed of promptly and in accordance with legislation.
- Monitor and action any issues assigned to caretaker on the schools reporting system.
- Ensure that appropriate levels of consumables, light DIY materials and winter gritting stocks are maintained to the required levels, ordering as required and checking receipts against order.
Cleaning:
- Ensure that all areas of the building are overseen and ready for use, reporting any concerns to the School Business Manager.
- Ensure that any spillages are mopped up and that any bodily fluids, vomit and other soiling are cleaned up as soon as practical.
- Ensure prompt removal of any internal and external graffiti.
- Empty playground bins weekly
Security:
- Manage the opening and closing of the school daily at agreed times.
- Be a key holder for the academy site
- Be responsible for general security and access control at all times
- The post holder may be called out at unsociable hours or at the weekends to deal with security problems, make emergency repairs or allow access to any contractor who may be working on the site.
- Take responsibility for keeping building energy consumption and carbon emissions under control via turning lights off, windows closed, doors closed where applicable and by avoiding any unnecessary building energy usage.
Health and Safety:
- Act upon any health and safety concerns and wider incident reporting including the removal of unsafe equipment if identified and safe to do so.
- Undertake routine and ad hoc inspections in conjunction with the Schools Business Manager and School Health & Safety Advisor as required
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and guidance so far as it relates to the school’s policies, and procedures and building compliance elements, including:
- Weekly fire alarm tests
- Weekly and monthly water hygiene checks
- Emergency lighting checks
- Fire exit checks
- Complete annual PAT testing of school electronic equipment. Training provided.
- Carry out dynamic risk assessments in any situation when appropriate
- Manage and supervise contractors while working on the school site operating a safe working environment.
- Ensure that hazardous substances are used, stored and disposed of in line with the relevant Risk Assessments and COSHH statements and that risk assessments are up to date and available Provide safe access to site during periods of inclement weather and emergency situations by gritting pathways and responding as needed in readiness for school opening.
General:
- Ensure that classrooms, assembly hall, dining areas, sports hall are set up as required for teaching, assemblies, performances, open days, examinations and any other event.
- Adopts a ‘don’t walk by’ mentality; takes responsibility for ensuring highest standards and problem solving as tasks arise.
- Provide support for staff in terms of moving deliveries, equipment and resources as required
- To undertake training and development relevant to the post.
- For eight weeks of the year, to support other MAT Schools within the county as requested by the central trust Estates team (mileage to be reimbursed in accordance with trust expense claim policy).
- To undertake any other duties as directed by the School Business Manager, School Head Teacher or the Central MAT Estates Team.
