How do we support your child’s emotional and social development?

How do we support your child’s emotional and social development?

Our Behaviour Policy, which includes guidance on expectations, rewards and sanctions is understood and followed by all staff. A range of pastoral support is available for pupils who are encountering emotional difficulties. These include:-

  • Members of staff – Pastoral Care Manager, class teachers, TAs and SENCO who are all readily available to children who wish to discuss issues and concerns.
  • Morland has introduced a whole school Thrive Approach in order to support the growth of social and emotional skills and well-being. The aim is for the children to:
  1. feel secure
  2. enjoy friendships
  3. relate well to others
  4. be able to learn

  • Interventions that focus on social and emotional development implemented by specialist trained staff.
  • Break and lunch time nurture groups for those who need to access a quieter space.
  • Access to The Oasis – a therapeutic space in school that is overseen by specialist Thrive practitioners.
