Phonics

In Nursery we are good listeners and we are learning to listen to the sounds in words. We know that when sounds come together they make words. We play lots of games which give us opportunities to listen. 

Fred Frog talks in sounds and we have to put them together c-a-t is cat. 

To help us hear the sounds it is really important to say them clearly. This video shows you how to say each sound. 

We know that a sound is hiding behind each picture. First we learn the pictures and now we are learning the sounds. I might say apple when I see an 'a' to remind me of the sound. I am learning that some sounds stretch into a word like 'sssnake' and some bounce in like 'c c caterpillar'.
