Our Values
British Values and our Values
We believe that Christian values and British values are intrinsically linked and we look for all opportunities to promote these values in everything that we do within school. Our values come from our Biblical vision:
'Through God all things are possible'
(Matthew 19:26)
Each half term we consider a specific value across the whole school. We consider what the value means to us and what importance it has in our life, while also learning about what the Bible teaches us about the value. We look for opportunities to show these values in action.
These are our values
Compassion
Through this value we try to :
- understand that Christians believe that their attitudes and actions must reflect the kindness, mercy and compassion of Jesus and the love of God for everyone
- encourage all members of the school community to show kindness and respect to one another
- build links with charities both locally and globally
- help each other to empathise with other people in a wide range of circumstances
Forgiveness
Through this value we try to:
- understand that Jesus’ death on the cross shows God’s amazing forgiving love
- understand that we can experience God’s forgiveness
- acknowledge that we all make mistakes and we all need to forgive each other as God forgives us
- understand how we can make amends for our mistakes
Perseverance
Through this value we try to:
- learn from how Jesus encouraged his disciples to ‘endure patiently’ the difficulties the experienced and to persevere even when life is very tough
- learn strategies to encourage and motivate ourselves and others
- develop skills to persevere through difficult times
- to build resilience
Hope
Through this value we try to:
- understand the hope that is given to us through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.
- understand that there is a chance of a new beginning and a fresh start in every situation
- discover how we can all play our part in creating a sustainable environment and a better society
- understand that we are all citizens of the world and that this citizenship brings challenges and responsibilities
Love
Through this value we try to:
- understand that basic to the Christian faith is that God is always present in every situation showing his love for us
- understand that through prayer people can experience the love of Jesus
- encourage us to show love for one another
- demonstrate love by helping other members of our school community
Responsibility
Through this value we try to:
- understand that life is a gift from God and it is our responsibility to use our talents and abilities in the best way that we can
- act responsibly in all aspects of life
- understand that we are responsible for our actions
- understand that our actions have consequences
