Friends of Morland Committee meeting minutes - 10th June 2024

Smartening up school entrance - Many thanks to all of you who have washed signs, weeded, gardened, cleaned or painted fences. The school entrance is beginning to look much smarter. A mention was given in Friday’s school newsletter recognising your efforts. Thank you to you all.
Summer Fayre -
There are 10 external stalls booked. These will be located in the area outside of the year 6 classrooms.
Face painting - external stall will be located undercover by year 4 classrooms.
Large Inflatables - will be loathed on the school field as per last year.
Goal Shootout (Mr Ablett) - located on school field
Fire engine (Ipswich Transport Museum) KS2 playground
Kinetic Science - KS1 playground/ grassy area
BMX - school field
Majorettes - School field for their display
Kuk Sool Won - school field for their display
Digby the Octopus
Let’s Talk books - KS1 playground
Mr Locke’s Musical delights - Nursery area
Any attractions may have a stall on the school field

Emma to speak to people re coconut donations

Kym to make some premade badges to sell at the Fayre
Sarah to ask Miss Houghton/ Miss Crane to run the raffle stall
Lou to buy food for BBQ, charcoal etc
Sarah to buy milk, alternative to cow’s milk, sweeteners, tea spoons
Claire to make up sweet cones
Sarah to print of posters ready to be collected from the school office from 11th June

Other Business -
Inform Mr Crane of non-uniform requests - Nursery/Reception = soft toys
Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 = toiletries
Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 = bottles
Do we want to renew Parentkind? A unanimous YES. Costs £153
The Raffle licence is up for renewal costing £20. Again YES to renewing.
Do we want to buy some debit card reader machines? Unanimously agreed to buy 2 machines
Raffle tickets will go on sale next week. Helpers please.
£111.01 profit from refreshments sold at Sports Days.
Communicate with stall holders, displays etc vehicles can be on site between 9 and 10:30am and move again after 2:15 om

Finances - £2552.99 in the bank. £135 has been used for Summer Fayre expenses. £75 has been deposited from Summer Fayre Stall holders.
A “deal” is currently available on some recycled benches. Are we okay to spend £1000 on buying some? All present thought it was but it would be put to a full group vote on WhatsApp.
Lou had found 3 options for badge making machines. Again this would be put to a vote on WhatsApp.

- Treasurer’s report - £2597.99 is our current balance of funds. Lou proposed that we hold £1,000 rather than £2,000 as a balance of funds available. This was agreed. So £1,000 will be held in the current account with the remainder being in our savings account. The Easter disco profit was £481.16
- Events -
Rainbow Raffle - to be advertised in this week’s newsletter, asking for donation via a non-uniform day on 3rd May. Raffle tickets to be sold soon after.

Frozen Fridays - keep and eye on improving weather before we start these again.
National Donut Day - 7th June
Summer Fayre - 29th June
- Playground Plans - The Rainbow Raffle is to focus on a short term project of building a “Reading Den” This would include a shed style building with additional seating, cushions and possibly outdoor mats. Claire has sources recycled benches - 90cm long for £120 + VAT or 150 cm long for £150+ VAT
Sarah agreed to creative a mood board to share our thoughts with the parents/children/staff. There was a lot of discussion about extending this to create a shade covered seating area with flower planters.
- Summer Fayre - It was agreed to have a first prize of £100, second prize of £50 (both cash rather than a voucher)
Several stalls are already confirmed - Pokemon, Art/bird boxes, Jewellery, Toys, Sewn item eg make up bags,.
Confirmed to attend the fayre - Gainsborough Choir, Steam Train, BBQ, Ipswich Transport Museum(fire engine), Let’s Talk Reading
