Our Vision and Values
We believe that Christian values and British values are intrinsically linked and we look for all opportunities to promote these values in everything that we do within school. Our values come from our Biblical vision:
“Through God all things are possible.”
Matthew 19:26
At Morland Church of England Primary School, our values of Respect, Kindness and Perseverance are at the heart of who we are and everything we do.
As a Church of England school, our values are rooted in our Christian vision and help us to develop children who are confident, caring and responsible. We encourage every member of our school community to live out these values each day — in the classroom, on the playground, at home and as part of the wider community.
Respect
Through this value we try to:
- understand that every person is unique, valued and loved by God
- treat ourselves, others and the world around us with respect
- listen carefully to the thoughts, feelings and opinions of others, even when they are different from our own
- celebrate and appreciate the diversity of our school, our community and the wider world
- use kind and respectful words and actions towards everyone
- care for our school, our environment and the things that belong to others
- understand that our choices and actions can affect other people
Kindness
Through this value we try to:
- understand the Christian teaching that we should love our neighbours as ourselves
- follow the example of Jesus by showing compassion, kindness and care to others
- notice when someone needs help, friendship or encouragement
- include others and ensure that everyone feels welcomed and valued
- show kindness through our words, actions and choices
- develop empathy and try to understand how other people may be feeling
- look for opportunities to make a positive difference to the lives of others
- extend our kindness beyond our school and into our local and wider community
Perseverance
Through this value we try to:
- understand that challenges and difficulties are a natural part of learning and growing
- follow the example of Jesus and those in the Bible who remained faithful and persevered through difficult times
- develop resilience and a positive attitude towards challenges
- keep trying when something is difficult, rather than giving up
- learn from our mistakes and see them as opportunities to improve
- encourage and support others when they are finding something challenging
- celebrate effort, progress and determination as well as achievement
- have the confidence to try new things and believe that, through God, all things are possible
Living our values
Our values are not simply words on a page. We want to see Respect, Kindness and Perseverance reflected in the everyday life of our school.
They help us to create a community where everyone feels safe, valued and supported, while encouraging our children to become confident learners, responsible citizens and compassionate members of society.
Together, we strive to help every child understand that they have the ability to make a positive difference — to themselves, to others and to the wider world.
