Kestrels' Class Page - Year 5A male kestrel with big eyes sits and watches.


Our class is called Kestrels and our teacher is Mr Girling. Our teaching assistants are Mrs Singh and Mrs Vukovic.


This term our topics are Earthquakes (geography) and The Vikings (history). In maths pupils will be learning to understand and use data in a graph. We will also be covering fractions this term including: adding, subtracting and multiplying fractions.The a crack in the ground separates two buildings.

In writing, we will be learning about action scenes and how to keep the reader interested. We will start learning the words from the year 5 spelling list too. This term we will be reading The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis.

In science, we will be studying the solar system and the different planets found therein.


In RE, the children will be learning about the Gospel and its meaning to Christians.

Art - Melting Ice Cubes

P.E.A tennis ball.

This term our P.E. lessons will be on Tuesdays. Pupils should come to school wearing their P.E. kit on Tuesdays. As the weather becomes colder, they should also bring a warm jumper or top to wear during other lessons.

Swimming lessons will be on Thursday afternoons. On those days pupils must come to school in their school uniforms and bring their swimming kit with them.

Note: when pupils have a sports club on a different day, for example football club on Friday, they should come to school in their normal uniform and get changed after the school day ends.
