We have learned about materials in science.

We have looked at what objects are made of: wood, plastic, glass, paper, cardboard, metal, brick, fabric.

We have looked at the properties of each material: hard, soft, rigid, flexible, opaque, transparent, translucent, absorbent, waterproof.

Finally, we have examined the suitability of materials for different uses e.g. 

• T-shirts are made from fabric because fabric is soft and flexible
• Pans are made from metal because metal is rigid and waterproof.

Please talk about the objects in your home and ask your child what material they are made from and why.
