Trip to Shimpling Farm
We went to Shimpling farm. We started off by discussing where our food comes from and how wheat is grown and turned into flour and then bread.
We went and looked at the farm machinery.
We made bread using yeast, flour, water and salt.
We looked in the barn at the grain, then we visited the sheep where fertilizing the fields with their poo,
After lunch we learned about the months of the year and when farmers sow seeds and harvest the wheat. Then we planted grain, ground the wheat and sieved it.
Finally we went out into the field and made pictures using what we could find
